Application Techniques
Stardust Luxury Foundation ©
Step 1 – Clean and Condition
Clean and moisturize your face and wait for your skin to absorb your moisturizer (if your moisturizer isn’t absorbed first then your foundation will appear uneven). It will also help to exfoliate your skin every two weeks or so.
Step 2 – Tip and Tap
First, remove the clear seal covering the sifter before first use. With the lid on the jar, tip the jar over and tap the bottom of the jar so that a small amount of Stardust Luxury Foundation© falls into the lid then open the jar.
Step 3 – Swirl and Tap and Sweep
Swirl your flat top brush (for heavy coverage) or kabuki brush (for lighter coverage) into the lid with foundation and gently tap excess foundation back into the lid. Sweep feathered, short, strokes to apply foundation to your beautiful face (DON’T BUFF IT INTO YOUR SKIN). For heavier coverage repeat Steps 2 and 3 to layer your foundation.
Using good quality brushes and the right brushes makes a big difference in how the makeup looks after application. You should use a Flat Top Brush or a Kabuki brush with densely packed natural soft bristles. The foundation looks better 10-15 minutes after it’s applied after the minerals settle into or warm up to your skin.
Concealer
To conceal something (dark circles, skin discoloration, and minor scars) use a small concealer brush to apply full, opaque Valana Minerals™ coverage to target areas. Then you should blend foundation gently over your lovely skin as described in Step 2 and Step 3.
Liquid Foundation (dry skin)
Follow Steps 1 and 2 (above). Then add a bit of your favorite natural moisturizer to the palm of your hand. Next add ValanaMinerals™ foundation (in the lid) to the moisturizer (in your hand) and mix it with your fingers. Gently apply the mixture to your radiant face. NOTE: I prefer using my hands because clean up is easy, it limits contamination of the foundation, and I’d rather have my foundation on my face and not soaked into a sponge.
Wet Set (dry skin)
Spray a fine mist of mineral water as a skin freshener over your face once your makeup is applied. Use a large fluffy foundation brush soften your look by gently sweeping the brush over your face.
Sparkie Lips Color Sticks©
Valana Minerals™ offers lip color cream in a vegan formulation with a brush tip applicator. The colors coordinate well with rich tan and deep brown skin tones. They contain no animal products and should be used like traditional lipsticks. You can create your own colors by ‘dialing out’ a bit of the lip color. Next dip the brush tip into your mineral powders and gently brush the new lip color over your lips.
Eye Indulgence©: Tap a small amount of Valana Minerals™ color into the lid or over the sifter. Then swirl your brush into the color and tap off the excess before application. Use an eye shadow brush (soft sponge or your fingers) to apply your eye color.
Eyeliner, eyebrow, or eye shadow wet application: Tap a small amount of Valana Minerals™ color into the lid. Add several drops of water to the color in the lid or mixing tray. Mix the color and water using an eyeliner brush then apply the eyeliner or eyebrow color. The eyeliner or eyebrow color will take a few seconds to dry and you can smudge the eyeliner for a dreamy look. You can also apply eyeliner and eyebrow color dry. Note: Avoid adding water to the entire pot, as it will contaminate the makeup.
Cheeky Cheek Pots©:: Tap a small amount of Valana Minerals™ color into the lid or over the sifter. Swirl your brush into the color and tap off the excess before application. Use a blush brush to apply your cheek color using gentle sweeping strokes from the apple of your cheek up toward your ear.
Multiple Uses
Valana Minerals™ colors are versatile! You can use the colors in the Cheeky Cheek Pots©, Eye Indulgence© or Blazin Bronzers© collections for cheek color, eye color, eye liner, eyebrow liner and bronzer. Experiment by mixing your mineral colors with, clear nail polish, hair gel (alcohol free), body lotion or face cream. Remember: These colors are concentrated so you don’t need much to achieve the desired effect.
Depending on the desired effect, you should use the same techniques described for:
• Foundation (light translucent dry application)
• Conclealer (heavy, opaque dry application)
• Liquid foundation (sheer easy to control application)
